Native American Unit
See All TopicsThe Native American Unit represents members of federally recognized tribes and their minor children in tribal court. Our advocates practice in the Ute Tribal Court and the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Tribal Court and regularly advocate for the rights of children in all legal matters. The Unit also drafts pro se documents for use in other tribal courts throughout the region and educates tribal communities about their legal rights including the Indian Child Welfare Act, protective orders, and housing.
The Native American Unit also represents tribal members in state court actions including family law, public benefits, housing law, guardianships, name changes, obtaining delayed birth records, wills and probate (state probate and Bureau of Indian Affairs probate), opening adoption records, and more.
